Marta Volodymyrivna Kondratiuk

Senior Lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages for Professional Purposes Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University

She teaches “English for Professional Purposes” at the departments of Economics and Philology.

Education and degrees:

Master of Education. She graduated from Kyiv National Linguistic University in 1996.

Candidate of Philological Sciences. She graduated from Kirovograd State Pedagogical University with a degree in 01.01.10 – Ukrainian literature

Doctor of Philosophy. She graduated from New York State University (Stony Brook University, USA) and defended the thesis to earn a degree in Comparative Literature

Professional membership:

UKRAINIAN ASSOCIATION FOR LANGUAGE TESTING AND ASSESSMENT (UALTA).

Professional experience:

She began teaching English as a foreign language in 1996 after graduating from Kyiv National Linguistic University. She participated in the Fulbright Graduate Student Program (2004-2006). In 2007 she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Philological Sciences. In 2008-2015 she studied at the graduate school of New York University (USA) and defended her dissertation in Comparative Literature and received a PhD in Comparative Literature. She also taught at American colleges and universities in New York, New Jersey, Machigan for 8 years. She has more than 30 scientific and educational publications and translations of poems by Ukrainian poets into English.

Research interests:

ESL teaching methods, aspect analysis of literary text, text categories, conceptual metaphor, translation.

In addition, she translates, tutors for international GRE, TOEFL, IELTS tests and consults applicants on English-language master’s programs in European and US universities.

Teaching Principle:

Learning English is a process, so have fun with it.

Hobbies:

psychology, poetry, embroidery, cooking.
